Bubba Monkres- Cowboy Hall of Fame 2011

The Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame honors the men and women, committees and associations, and the livestock that champions the western lifestyle and supports the sport of Rodeo. This honor represents the brilliant effort and dedication of cowboys, cowgirls, volunteers and personnel that make Rodeo and the State of Texas so proud. It is a dedication and talents of the contestants and the support of communities across the Lone Star state, to come together and enjoy competitive rodeo action at an elite level.

I remember he decided to ride North Texas our senior year and the board of North Texas High School Rodeo Association wasnt going to let him because he had been riding PRCA for 2 years already. Well they couldnt not let him because there was no rule that you could not hold your PRCA card and ride high school. Rules were 4 years.

Bubbas 1st ride Kevin Morris & I were sitting in the stands with Kevins mom Wanda and Eddie McFadden. When Bubbas name was called from Everman, Texas the whole place got quiet and you could hear a pin drop. Bubba rode with such grace, made the 8 second buzzer then jumped off and tipped his hat. Everyone cheered like he was a star.

He started 1/2 way through our senior year and ended up passing everyone up in the standings, making the finals.

A great bull rider you were Clinton Bubba Monkres....
